Foreword Bells were used for a large part of Australia’s history, especially in the early days to aid with the management of animals which were an integral part of our economy. While bells are still used in the control of stock in some areas, first hand memories of the old bell makers and the traditional use of bells are fast disappearing. This content for this website, for the most part, has been extracted from the companion book, Bells of the Australian Bush, and is provided to give an insight into this history.
As the reader, we invite you to explore this site, reflect on the history of this by-gone era, provide feedback and contribute your own stories about animal bells and the characters of this period. We would be happy to add these accounts and associated images to our stories  page for others to enjoy. Note: We respect your privacy and contributors can remain anonymous. Only appropriate content will be considered for publication on this site. Thank you again for taking the time to visit us!
